Recearch to determine erosion risk indeks and its control have conducted on Nusalaut island, Saparua district of Central Maluku regency. This recearch used a survey method, with observation of rigid grid on flat areas dan a flexible grid on undulating to mountainous areas. Observation points were made between 100 by 100 metre strips. The soil, land use, slope length, slope gradient, soil conservation control and appearance of the erosion was recorded at one point in the strip. Point observations to determine soil properties have used boring, mini pit and profile pit. The result of the research showed that actual erosion value is 0.2 – 31,484 ton.ha-1.th-1 with soil loss tolerance between 11.3 to 46.9 ton.ha-1.th-1. Erosion risk indeks value is 0.005 – 1,923, and including low until very high class. Improved techniques for soil conservation by forested, making coluvial terrace and cultivated permanently strip grass with good design, bench terrace with groundnud cultivated are recommended as alternative to land use because this can slowdown the rate of actual erosion between 20 and 99.7 percents of the previous actual erosion.
